Kuta Beach: Rediscovering Bali’s Once Bustling Gem After the Pandemic

Hi Travelers…
Let’s continue our discussion, still about Bali. For some people (including me), Bali truly has its own charm, and the pandemic has held us back from traveling. In  Part 1 I already reviewed how Bedugul, with its magic, keeps inviting us to visit again and again. Now, in Part 2, I want to review a destination in Bali that is the most ‘ordinary’….

If it’s so ordinary, why review it???
Yes, because this place was always visited every time I went to Bali. Before the pandemic. After the pandemic, this place became quiet, and even many small businesses here have closed. Yes… this is Kuta Beach.

Kuta, which used to be always full of travelers from various countries, even to the point where the locals were sometimes the minority here, haha… Forget motor vehicles, even pedestrians could get stuck in traffic here.

But now??? Kuta is deserted, guys… On one block of the street in the Art Market, perhaps no more than 10 shops are open. The rest are closed!! Pubs, restaurants, cafes, and even some hotels have surrendered to the trials of Covid.

And as a result, Kuta suddenly feels like a ghost town, or should I say, it’s so quiet… Even street food vendors scramble to approach us as soon as we arrive. Uncomfortable??? Of course, but it seems they have no choice but to ‘swarm’ the few visitors who do show up.

It’s not all bad, though. Yes, I always believe that every test from God always has a meaning. The pandemic that made Kuta quiet is no exception. One of the positives is that local travelers, who used to feel uncomfortable seeing rows of tourists sunbathing in Kuta, can now enjoy the area without that concern. A friend even jokingly said, “Kuta now belongs to Indonesians, haha…”

I somewhat agree with this observation, so in this article, I want to invite travelers to work together to improve our tourist spots. It might not be an exaggeration to say that paradise on Earth is in our country… and Bali is our tourism gateway.

Oh, and don’t forget, after enjoying the sun at Kuta, be sure to take some typical Kuta sunset photos. Here’s my shot. Feel free to share your shots in the comments section…

  1. Sudah lama tidak ke Bali. Yang paling berkesan wisata ke Trunyan, banyak jenazah diletakkan tanpa dikubur tapi tetap wangi

Ya ampun.. Kuta sepi toh skrg. Di satu sisi enak buat pelancong ya, gak terlalu crowded jd bisa lbh menikmati. Tp di sisi lain kasian bisnis umkm di sekitar pasti terpuruk

Dan cerita tentang Kuta yang akhirnya jadi milik pribumi pada akhirnya setelah pandemi berlangsung berhasil bikin aku ngakak sambil makan siang yanh kesorean.

Satu sisi, seneng banget ya kalo objek wisata kita digemari wisatawan asing. Tapi semoga kedepannya turis lokal pun bisa menikmati keindahan alam Indonesia dengan leluasa
